How to find yourself in a confusing world

Do you ever feel lost and confused? Like the world is telling you what to do, or how to be, and you're not quite sure what *you* want anymore? Do you ever feel like there must be something better? That there must be some secret sauce to all of this that you're missing?

Now, I'm not going to pretend that I have everything figured out. In fact, honestly, I feel a little lost right now too. And it's in these moments that I have to remind myself how to find myself back on the right track.

You know that little voice that tells you when something's not right? That almost "this must be in my head" feeling, but deep down you feel like it's actually the most real and honest and true part of yourself? That part of yourself that feels the most like yourself? That is your inner voice and truth, and it never lets you down.

It's hard to figure out the difference between your inner voice and truth vs. anxiety or fear or what you've been taught to think. You will know it's your inner voice because it will feel nourishing and so real and true to you, like a warm bowl of nourishing soup. It will feel like, ahhh this is the right track.

So let's say you feel unhappy in your job. First of all, it's normal to not feel great all the time at your job. But you shouldn't be miserable most of the time. Do you feel that maybe you're somewhere you thought was the right choice, based on what everyone was telling you, but deep down wasn't really the best place for you? Maybe the best place for you was counter to what seemed best on paper, but you just felt so much better about it.

Of course, don't jump ship or do anything stupid or impulsive, especially from a blog post. ;) Everyone's situation is different, and there is so much more complexity to the situation depending on who or what it impacts. System oppressions may be at play, or other aspects of life that might not make it easy to simply be, "hey I don't want to do this anymore, I want to do that."

But simply notice if there's a part of yourself that would feel more like a nourishing bowl of soup if you took a different path, or a made a different choice. Just sit with it, journal about it, and think about it. Maybe it might mean you make a different small choice in your day tomorrow, such as what you choose to eat for breakfast. Or maybe you decide to call up that friend that feels like a nourishing friendship. Or maybe you decide to apply for that interesting job that kinda feels exciting even though it's not what society tells you to do. Just observe and notice with a curious mindset, and see where it takes you.

Thanks for reading my random musings.
